My mother tongue is Spanish and I'm an English teacher, plus studying French. I can now better understand why sometimes I get confused on my French lessons, even a lot more than when I first studied English!
Also, what are your thoughts on Interlingua? My brain stops everytime that guy from Tiktok shows up on my FY page!
I know! When I realized they were the same words with sound changes, my mind was blown, too!

I think interlanguage is interesting, too. I can notice some parts of my Spanish which have "fossilized." Since I started learning about translanguaging, I like that that theory views interlanguage as just language. To me, it's a perspective change from interlanguage, which to me feels like it's comparing learners to monolinguals, to translanguaging, which focuses on how bilinguals are using everything they know to communicate. Both theories really helped me understand my bilingual journey just in different ways! Let me know what you think!
